We survived camping AND it was fun!!!!
Even though it rained the first night (while we were sleeping, thankfully!) and it was a ridiculous amount of work keeping up with our children, we had a great time!! Jakob and Kaleb may have been a year too young but despite the chasing them all over campground or strapping them into the stroller to give us a break, it was fun :-)
We got there Friday about 5:00 and set up everything. Our car was packed to the very last inch....I am surprised we had room for the kids! It is hard to pack your house into a minivan. I am a well known overpacker and packing things for 'just in case' situations. So I packed way too much initially and then repacked later....still a full car. I thought for sure our back bumper would be dragging on the road! It was much fun UNpacking all this stuff and attempting to set up with the boys running around:-P Our friends have two girls the boys age and they happily sat in the car watching a movie while their parents set up. Hmph...that would not happen with the boys, they would scream until we let them loose lol About 10 arguments later between Marcin and I, our camping neighbor returning Kaleb to our campsite, many slices of Papa johns pizza and two drinks....we were set up. Whew....exhausting!!! We had two tents with Marcin and Gavin in one. Myself, J and K in the other. Let me tell ya, a tent looks big enough until you get two pack n plays and a double air mattress in there, it was tight but we managed. It rained the first night while we slept so we woke up to many mud puddles and wet dirt....fun :-P I had packed the boys rainboots because these were on my 'just in case' list and I was so thankful I did!!! They were running around in their zip Pj's and rain boots :-) Jakob absolutely loved all the puddles....pretty sure Marcin was having a mild anxiety attack from all the dirt AND it being on our children. eh...dirt is dirt. God made dirt and dirt don't hurt right? I remember a teacher telling us that in school :-P
Saturday morning started out a little rough because the boys were going nuts in the dirt, we were trying to find things to get breakfast going and I was getting angry at my children because they would NOT stay in one place or even listen, RRRRR!!! All of this before my morning coffee! lol
Our friends hit the water park but I just couldn't take another minute of chasing the kids....Marcin and I needed a break so we went for a walk and headed to the arcade where we discovered THE perfect area for a campsite. We really considered moving here....the area where the shark was was FENCED in, yes people....a fence! Anyone with multiples dream come true!!! AND no dirt, all rocks! perfection I tell ya lol They ran and climbed for a little bit. Marcin and I got a break and then headed to the arcade. That was a much needed containment break for us.....it is NOT easy being outnumbered by your kids, especially with two of the same age.
We made it to the water park after naps that day and it was alot of fun! There were two big waterslides, lazy river and a kid area. The kids pool was 1.5 ft deep and had a fun small slide in the middle. Jakob LOVED it!!! We finally have a kid who loves the water :-) Gavin is starting to enjoy it but Kaleb reminds me so much of Gavin at his age. Kaleb wanted nothing to do with the water. Finally I took him to front of the pool where there were little sprinklers so he could warm up to it, then he would slowly stand up for a few minutes, take a couple of steps and probably 30 minutes later he was having fun. sheesh! lol
I could take or leave a pool...I dont like water in my face, especially my eyes :/ I would guess this is from wearing contacts for so long that I could never really get water in my eyes without it bothering me. I can remember as a kid taking swimming lessons and just not being that interested. Hmm....now that I think about it, perhaps i am just not a fan of the pool after all. Eh, thats ok....Marcin likes it so he can play with boys while I lounge in the chair reading a book.....one day that will happen right?! Lol
I am sure you are wondering, what in the world did they eat while camping?! Kielbasa of course! We had 5 lbs of it and it was delicious!!! It doesnt get much better than kielbasa cooked over a campfire :-) My friend and I spent hours in kitchen cooking snacks and preparing for our weekend only to discover that everyone only wanted popcorn, banana bread and kielbasa. Note to self for next year :-)
I was really worried about the campfire but surprisingly the kids did really well staying away from it. J&K understand that fire is hot but I thought for sure someone would touch it or something!
The campground was a perfect size for a family with younger kids!!! They had a small waterpark, a western town that did shows, arcade, restaurant, 2 playgrounds, a pool, marina and a campstore with pretty much anything you need. I expected the camp store to be bare essentials but they pretty much had it all :-) There was a free shuttle bus to take you to ocean city to the boardwalk and beach. We didn't make it there but our trip got cut short thanks to the rain on Sunday :-( Another saving grace and super convenient amenity is the golf carts you can rent. The kids would have been happy simply riding that around all day lol We managed to get all 9 of us on the golf cart lol
I am excited to go back next year, it will be much more fun with J&K being older. I am starting my packing list now while it is still fresh in my mind what we will need and didn't end up needed this year :-)

Camping.....in a tent....5 kids 4 & under :-D
These tents will be our homes this weekend! EK!! When our friends asked us in March about camping, it sounded like so much fun!! After much research to find a family friendly campground with PLENTY for kiddos to do, we decided on Frontiertown in Ocean City, Maryland. http://www.frontiertown.com/
The campground is really big with an amusement park, water park, arcade, puppet shows, cowboy & indian shows for the kids. There is also a camp store with the basic groceries and such and a couple of places to eat! We also have an electrical outlet and water spicket on our tent sites because well, I just can't rough it. I need a fan in the tent and an electric skillet to cook things on! I am sure I will need to charge my phone, Gavin's leappad, ipad or camera also.
Now let me tell you, I am not much of a tent camper. I used to camp with my grandparents when I was younger in a camper...we would go fishing, bicycle riding and all that camping stuff. The key here is that I had a bathroom right by me....I like this :-) When I moved to Delaware, Marcin and I went tent camping a couple of times in the Poconos. The last time we went was 2005, we stayed one night..it started to rain, we packed it up and came home. I had to draw the line at sitting under a tarp watching it rain. There is only so many games to be played and alcohol to drink. Right now, the weather for Ocean City looks pretty good. There is 30% chance of rain Saturday and Sunday....crossing everything that the rain stays away, feel free to do the 'no rain' dance at home :-) The temperature is forecasted to be in high 70's/low 80's....perfect!
I love the idea of camping...camp fire, cooking kielbasa over the fire, s'mores, baked apples, fresh air. I don't like the mosquitoes, possibility of rain or the bathroom being far away. Right now, the two things I worry about the most are the mosquitoes (I bought Thermacells so hopefully that does the trick!) and the kids being free to roam :-P At least at home, they can be contained in the house and have a good idea of their boundaries outside. In the wilderness, there will be no boundaries...this should be interesting lol This is always a concern of mine regardless of where we go. We have two camp sites on the corner away from the Main road so I am trying not to stress over the cars that hopefully won't be driving fast by our camp sites. We have two large tents because you just can't fit 3 people and two pack n plays in one tent. Not to mention Gavin goes to bed a little later then twins, so having them in separate tents solves that problem. Most likely Marcin will sleep with Gavin. I will stay with J&K. Although J&K have never slept in same area since they were born and in the hospital so that should be interesting!
I have to say though, this place sounds like fun! We will have good friends, good food and drinks. Plenty of alcoholic drinks because I have a feeling we will be needing them breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between! Kidding!!!! These adorable 5 kids will exhaust us for sure! I am pretty sure they are going to have fun with everything to do at the campsite and each other! I am also hopeful that all the activities will exhaust them so they will be ready for bed in evening :-)
In my true OCD fashion, I have about 4 paper lists floating around the house, along with 2 lists on my phone because I am so worried I will forget something!!! There is so much to pack for tent camping, especially with 3 kids!!! If you have any helpful suggestions, please feel free to share!
I have been trying to prep Gavin on camping so he can get a good idea of what will happen. I explained that we are going to take our tents and sleeping bag to the woods and thats where will we sleep. He thought about this for a minute and said, " I don't want to go camping. It is loud in the woods and there are bugs." lovely......LOL Wish us luck :-)

Finally...the Ferarri and other fun things :-)
Last year for Marcin's birthday, I got THE perfect gift! lol I had my eye on this for a wedding gift but it was $400 an hour, ridiculous!!! I have to thank Groupon for this deal! I got the email and bought it immediately! We went out to dinner with a group of friends and I gave him the gift, he was speechless. This was the 3rd time in 10 years I have seen him speechless...the 1st was the Redskins groom cake at our rehearsal dinner. The 2nd was in triage when my OB said it was time to take me to OR to deliver twins. The 3rd was giving him an hour to drive a Ferrari. It was a great reaction!
We had a little bit of a hard time finding the time to get there for him to drive it but we did it! We were a little concerned that we would get there and be given a 1985 model to drive LOL Thankfully it was not an 1985 model, it was a 2009 Ferarri California convertible :-)
Pretty, isn't it?! To rent this car for a day costs $2200!!! To purchase it starts at $190,000. I get it, it s a Ferrari but I wasn't that impressed....at least not $190,000 impressed :-P This Groupon was through Imagine Lifestyles and they require one of their drivers to ride with you. Marcin wasn't thrilled about it but luckily the guy riding with him let him open it up and get the car up to 100mph and whip it around like they do in the movies :-) I was so happy he had fun and enjoyed it!
I also got him a Lamborghini rental for Father's day...I figure you just can't drive too many exotic cars, right? :-)
For my latest big news, I scheduled it.....the tummy tuck is officially on the calendar! And I am officially terrified lol I have met with the plastic surgeon twice because the first time was pretty overwhelming with all the information. That was a little over a year ago. I met with him again a couple of months ago because I had thought of more questions and wanted more detail on the surgery and recovery time. I really like the doctor, he is straight forward and doesn't paint a pretty picture to make it all seem more appealing. He laid out the surgery in probably more detail than I needed and told me that I will not like him...matter of fact I will be very angry with him the first 36-48 hours or so but he will give me excellent pain killers :-) Gee..thanks, I think lol
As much as it scares me, any type of surgery scares me, I cannot wait to be able to wear normal fitting clothes again and say good bye to the what my friend and I have dubbed, 'the kangaroo pouch' :-) I have three kids and I am 34 years old....I don't want to look like a 21 year old, I just want to feel good in my own body again. Nothing wrong with that. The big day is January 11, 2013. Doc says at least 3 weeks of recovery and a good 8 weeks of no heavy lifting. The boys already get themselves in their carseats...if they decide to listen, hmph. This was one of my main concerns. It will be winter so there shouldn't be too much going on, Gavin will be in school 3 mornings a week. J&K will be approaching 2.5 years old....craziness!!!
I have many projects to work on in the next 5 months! I still have not had time to start on our bathrooms upstairs. I have grand plans...not really, just some painting, new light fixtures and paint cabinets. I just need to find the time to start on it. We have managed to replace the foyer light, moved the fish tank to basement and Marcin did a great job building fish tank into wall. It looks great!!! We got a new shelving unit for upstairs in place of fish tank, super cute! I have been trying to reorganize our office and kitchen to make it more user friendly. I feel like we are constantly putting things up high to keep out of reach of little hands and things just pile up and up and up and up and up. Drives me nuts, too much clutter...I need things to have a place so they are there next time I need them! Slowly but surely, I am getting there :-)
I need to print a lot of pictures for canvas and framing. We would like to tile the half bath downstairs. Finish decorating our room. Build a storage unit under deck for outside things like mower, tools and Gavin Jeep. We keep it in the basement but I cannot pull it up steps during day when Marcin is at work so we need somewhere out back to keep it because it does not fit in the garage and we are not leaving our cars out of the garage for a Power Wheels Jeep! lol
The boys are silly as ever!!! Some days I just sit back and I am truly amazed that they are ours :-) We are so blessed to have them in our lives. Other days, I won't lie....I would love for them all to take a really long nap and give me a break. It isn't easy having 3, well 4, people needing you all the time. I just need some quiet time with no one asking me for anything, at all LOL But then when I get that quiet time, its too quiet and I don't know what to do with myself. figures LOL
Gavin has really been testing his limits lately. I try to be patient, I really really do. But it is proving to be hard when he is constantly telling me, "NO!! I DON'T WANT TOO!" Or he isn't listening, taking things from his brothers when I repeatedly tell him to ask first. Then he will turn around like someone flipped a switch and give me the sweetest hug and kisses that all is forgotten :-) He has such a sweet heart. I was making cookies today and I asked him if he wanted the cookies to be green (his favorite color and he excitedly says, YES PLEASE!!!! He was so excited just to have green cookies especially for him. He then explains to me that because he is now 4 years old, he would need to eat 4 green cookies. I see his reasoning here :-)
All Kaleb does is talk, talk, talk, talk, talk :-) Remember when I was worried because he wasn't talking? I knew it...I knew I would regret that worry, lol He has the cutest little voice and I love it when he says, 'mommmmmy' He says it all day long and has really been a momma's boy lately...he won't let me out of his sight! And wants me to hold him all day long, I don't think he realizes his 33lb self is heavy! lol It is absolutely adorable when he climbs up in my lap and cuddles, he is the best cuddler (shhhh....don't tell his brothers!) but he always has been! He just seems to love it! He had to snuggle with Gavin today while he was looking at a photo book and he proceeded to point out everyone he knew in the book :-) Kaleb loves to read or look at any book!
Jakob is talking also! He has a lot to say and is doing great with his speech therapy! He gives the best hugs....he wraps his arms around you so tight and squeezes!!! We love it! Jakob loves to help with things..if Marcin is working on something like fixing a toy, building something....jakob is right in the middle with a screwdriver trying to help out. He seems to be the comedian of the bunch. He is the most dramatic of the bunch also but his contagious laugh makes up for it :-)
I need to get to sleep....REALLY hoping J&K sleep well tonight. Kaleb seems to be working on some 2 year molars and Jakob seems to finally be getting his eye teeth :-P

A quick catch up!
It's August 1! Ugh! how is that possible? I feel like summer just started. I am not even sure where to start with updating on things around here. Busy pretty much sums it up, as usual.
Gavin turned 4 July 17, our big sweet boy! He had a fun birthday party celebrating with some of his friends. Thankfully the darn fire truck showed up! I was borderline harassing the Deputy Chief of Aetna Fire Department because he asked me to email the week of, so I did asking him to confirm. I never heard from him the entire week. By Friday I came to the realization that the fire truck just wasn't coming. He called me saturday at 1:30 to confirm claiming he hadn't been getting his messages. REALLY?!? None of them? Whatever, they showed up....the kids were excited, it worked out :-) So if you ever want a fire truck at your house, just call your local station and ask. They might say no, they might say yes. They may even not call you until day of party but it doesn't hurt to ask :-)
I do believe he had a good birthday!!! He received a real microphone with a speaker!! This absolutely made his day, he loves anything to do with music! Then at his birthday party from Marcin's parents, he got a Power Wheels Jeep that we happened up on for a STEAL...seriously. Our neighbors were moving and sold it to us for a ridiculously low price and some of the features on it still had tape on it, hardly used!
From my dad and Gay he got a a 5 piece drum set because he informed us a while ago that he needed another tom drum and also another snare drum. Another great deal from amazon (love that website!)
I sometimes feel like that crazy American Idol mom who swears up and down that her is the best singer around. I feel this way because I think Gavin is pretty good with drums for a 4 y/o. He doesn't just bang around and make noise, he has a pretty good rhythm for his age. He will listen to songs over and over until he can pick out the beat, then goes to play on his drums. He was very excited to get this drum set! I have been looking around for someone who would do some drum lessons for a 4 y/o, no one really does, probably because its a bit too young but we still wanted to expose to some instructions so he can learn since this has been an ongoing interest for about 2 years now. So while I was getting a new string for his christmas gift electric guitar, I inquired at the music store if they knew anyone. A man working there said he would do it :-) I told him I had no expectations due to Gavin's age but the drum teacher had a lot of patience then maybe we could arrange something. So Gavin has been to 'Drum School' twice now and while he can't sit still and focus for long periods of time, yesterday he did listen to what his drum teacher was instructing him on. Of course, we must give Gavin an incentive for good listening....there is an electric drum in the store that he loves to play! So if he does well during his lesson, he can play that and go look at all the speakers:-)
Here are some more pics from the party, Jakob and Kaleb had fun too!!
Now to get started on J&K's party, it is going to be a construction party...perfect for boys, don't cha think? lol
Those two get smarter everyday and so darn funny!! Jakob is definitely the comedian with his huge smile and contagious laugh. You just can't be mad at him....well I can after an entire of clingy and whiny Jakob but that doesn't happen often :-P He is improving with his speech and trying more words. He doesn't articulate them correctly but that will come in time. He has become an very independent, stubborn kid :-) I say that in the most loving way....seriously, I do! He wanted to try everything by himself first. If he gives it a good try and can't do it, then he will ask for your help. If you try help him before he asked, he will yell at you. Yep, seriously. He has grown so much and is no longer our baby, he is a big boy. Now if only he would use the potty! He watches Gavin and likes to imitate him using the potty. He does not like a dirty diaper, all signs point to readiness except for me. I am not ready because I simply don't have the time right now :-P We will get there.
Kaleb has absolutely no fear, which is fine...if he were the only child. Since he is not, his adventurous ways usually get copied by Jakob and sometimes Gavin who then end up getting hurt. Kaleb can fall off the couch and get up giggling. Jakob...not so much. It would be followed by 10 minutes of dramatic crying :-P We were at the park yesterday while Gavin was at camp. I was taking care of Jakob and saw Kaleb going over to the 'big kids' park area with this super tall slide. He had checked it out earlier and decided it wasn't for him. Well apparently he changed his mind and decided to go....my heart stopped as Jakob and I are running over to make sure he doesn't fall!
That's his little head poking out at the top!! He did once and loved it! He was laughing the entire way down every time. oi vey! He is going to have us at the ER a few times in the future, I just know it!
Kaleb is doing great with his speech, he has alot to say...all the time LOL I love hearing their little voices, so cute!!!
They all had hand/foot/mouth virus last week. NOT FUN!!! Jakob started it and milked it for all it was worth (just like his father would do! hmph). We couldn't decide if it was strep, teething, the virus or what. I took him to doc when his fever developed and did a strep test, negative. I took him back a couple days later and he had blisters all over his throat, poor guy :-( A couple days after Jakob's fever, Kaleb's fever developed and then Gavin's. And now I guess mine....my throat is killing me and my head weighs a ton. I have to thank the makers of Dayquil for getting through the days lol
Boys are waking up and I still need to shower! I will try to better about blogging, it only takes a few minutes and I have good intentions but then I get distracted or busy with something else. Stay tuned because on Saturday we are finally going to do Marcin's birthday present from september....he gets to drive a Ferrari for an hour, supposedly as fast as he wants too! Should be a good time! I will for sure be taking pictures!
